Artist Statement

People are always looking for what they have never seen before. Most people can only see through their physical eyes but lack the ability to see through their inner eye. The vision that is not dependent upon physical sight stays in ones memory and opens the doors to see things with something else!

Artist Bio:

Born in California, United States, Feburary 9, 1961The word that describes Marc is resilient! Marc Has always been able to render,draw,paint,sculpt,play musical instruments and write music. Marc states that love of creative pusuits is the over riding force behind his creative works. It is the force or power that drives and compels him to create.The philosophy Marc has held to about his art is that it is the only moment when he can truly experience freedom.Freedom is helps him expand his thoughts artistically.Freedom quites his mind from the chatter of everyday life.This freedom leads to his experimentation and creation of new things in his art.

  Marc started creating art from a very early age. His ability to been inventive with respect to medium usage was apparent from the start. He would gather the wooden matches from the ash trays inside his home and use the remaining charcoal to draw with it on a concrete slab on the patio of the homes back yard. Marc renders and draws images on most surfaces with any usable mediums.Then he paints on them. Marc started teahcing his self to play musical instruments although he did have some private lessons at the start. By age 13 He and his twelve year old brother,Courtney M. Doutherd began playing in night club's as professional musicians and had Registered Musicians Union cards at the age of twelve and were in there own band called,'The Infinities'. Marc ranges in styles from extreme figurative realism, surrealism, and in later moved towards more abstract styles with his art. He has always shown unlimited innovative ability in terms of his creative pursuits. His artistic disciplines include but are not limited to illustration, lithography, painting with any medium, graphic design, leather work, tanning, jewelry design and casting, sculpture/bronze casting and stone,jade carving, glass blowing, musical instrument design and creation, music writing and composition. Marc's art and his abilities need no description because they speak for themselve's. His art and his vision are spiritual and he captures what few are able to see with a vibrancy and feeling to the that is very powerful.
